Legal Analysts
Below we explain what we are looking for, what a successful candidate can expect in return from us, and how to apply to join the firm.
What we are looking for: We require strong credentials from a top undergraduate institution as well as demonstrated success in prior employment or extracurricular pursuits. No prior legal experience is necessary, but a desire to learn and excel in a team-oriented environment is essential. We require a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.7.
Job description: Our legal analysts perform a variety of tasks that ensure the efficient operation of our practice and our success in court. Analysts conduct research and analysis, craft arguments, and create multimedia presentations used in court before judges and juries. The amount and degree of difficulty of the substantive projects assigned to each analyst depend on the analyst’s performance, motivation, and initiative.
At Dovel & Luner, attorneys and analysts work in a collaborative environment where everyone plays a role in producing the best work product possible. We actively foster our collegial workplace culture by having weekly “Firm Lunches” to discuss and brainstorm ideas about improving the effectiveness of the firm. We also hold “Firm Days” several times each year for attorneys and analysts to bond together outside of the office.
After leaving our firm, past legal analysts have gone on to top U.S. law schools (such as Harvard and Stanford), prestigious graduate programs, and positions in various other industries including finance, tech, and government.
Compensation: The annual salary is up to $77,500 for first-year analysts, consisting of a base salary of $67,500 plus a bonus of up to $10,000. Additional financial incentives may also apply, allowing first year analysts to exceed $77,500 in compensation in some cases.
Second-year analysts receive a base salary of $72,500, plus a bonus of up to $10,000, plus a $20,000 retention bonus after working for twenty-five full months (resulting in up to $102,500 in total second-year compensation). We also provide a $2,500 relocation bonus and benefits including medical coverage, a dental plan, and fully-vested participation in a retirement plan (the retirement plan is vested after the first year).
