Dovel & Luner Sues SelectBlinds for Advertising Fake Sales

Press Release

SANTA MONICA – Dovel & Luner, a litigation boutique law firm, on Monday filed a class action lawsuit against SelectBlinds LLC on behalf of consumers nationwide who purchased products falsely advertised at a discount.  The lawsuit alleges that SelectBlinds misled and overcharged consumers by advertising fake sales with made-up prices and inaccurate discounts on its website.

The Complaint, filed in the Superior Court of California County of Ventura, alleges that SelectBlinds violated the consumer protection laws of numerous states, including California’s Unfair Competition Law and False Advertising Law.

According to the lawsuit, “[e]verything about these advertisements is false. The sales Defendant advertises are not limited-time events where the Products are marked down from their regular retail prices. SelectBlinds’ products do not ever retail at the supposed regular prices it lists.”

The complaint states “when the [sale] countdown timer ends, the sales do not end. Instead, they are immediately replaced by a different sale offering comparable amounts off—always more than 30% off, and are typically close to 50%. And the countdown timer is reset and begins counting down again.”

“SelectBlinds’ practice of falsely advertising a limited-time sale of their products is unfair and misleading,” said Simon Franzini of Dovel & Luner.  “Plaintiffs brought this case to protect the hundreds of thousands of U.S. consumers who purchased these products until false pretenses.”
