Dovel & Luner Sues Fashion Nova for Advertising Fake Sales

Press Release

SANTA MONICA – Dovel & Luner LLP on November 2, 2022, filed a class action lawsuit against Fashion Nova, LLC on behalf of California consumers who purchased products from Fashion Nova online.  The lawsuit alleges that Fashion Nova creates an illusion of discounts by using fake regular prices, fake discounts, and fake limited-time offers to mislead and overcharge consumers.

The Complaint, filed in the Superior Court of the State of California – County of Los Angeles, alleges that Fashion Nova violated the consumer protection laws of California, including California’s Unfair Competition Law and False Advertising Law, and the Consumer Legal Remedies act.

According to the lawsuit, “While there is nothing wrong with a legitimate sale, a fake one—that is, one with made up regular prices, made up discounts, and made up expirations—is deceptive and illegal.”

The complaint states “Fashion Nova’s products do not retail at the supposed regular prices it lists … Fashion Nova’s published regular prices were fake.”

“The practice of misrepresenting actual prices to deceive consumers is unfair and misleading,” said Christin Cho of Dovel & Luner.  “Plaintiffs brought this case to protect the thousands of California consumers who purchased Fashion Nova’s products.”
